On August 23, 1879, the clipper ship Ravenscrag arrived in Honolulu, carrying with it the Portuguese "machete," the small stringed instrument that would, in short order, inspire the creation of the 'ukulele. For this reason, the Ravenscrag's arrival in Hawai'i is considered the "spiritual birth" of the 'ukulele. The 1879 "Ravenscrag" mug features a historically-accurate rendering of the famous clipper ship by artist Zsolt Schäfer. The perfect gift for any 'ukulele player!
